In this document you will find an attendance action plan. This includes split the year group into waves and plan actions for each wave of poor attendance.
It includes the actions that should be taken from 100% attendance-90% and includes priorities to be completed by a pastoral leader. It also includes a comment about monitoring and how attendance should be monitored alongside this plan.

This resource is an assembly focused on Raising Aspirations. It focuses on challenging student perceptions of HE/FE and looks at the example of a paralympic swimmer to show overcoming adversity.
The assembly contains:
a starter slide using positive quotes about overcoming challenges alongside motivational and inspiring music which is embedded. The first slide also contains the objective: ‘To explore aspirations, fear and expecting more of ourselves.’ It asks students questions about fear and what fear does for holding us back.
the next slide looks at students deepest hopes and deepest fears - discussing how fear can paralyse us from moving forward.
the next slide tackles some of the common misconceptions about students moving onto FE and HE.

This assembly focuses on the concept of Random Acts of Kindness.
It focuses on the benefits of kindness and being kind to others, as well as how you can kind to one another.
It also includes a youtube link about the infectious nature of kindness - which really helps to illustrate the point about helping one another.

This is an assembly focused on anti-bullying. It covers a variety of topics including:
a link to a starter video from Pixar which begins to explore the treatment of those different to ourselves
defines bullying
exploration of words closely linked to the definition and those which are most powerful linked to bullying
exploration of the different types of bullying and what they look like
exploration how bullying makes people feel and the impact on others
an activity used in the assembly to encourage students to recognise how bullying may feel
provides the case study of Felix Alexander - who took his own life after being bullied, including a video interview with his mum Lucy - a very powerful video.

In this resource you will find guidance on prioritisation in tray task. This guidance goes through the purpose of an in tray like this, including why they’re used, how to ace them and things to avoid!
This document also provides an example prioritisation task for you to practice prior to the interview.
Please note: this resource DOES NOT include a worked example of the answers - this is because there is no correct answers for a priorisation task - you only need to make informed and educated decisions and justify your answers clearly.
This resource aims to develop teacher understanding on how to support best learning and revision. It is not specific to exams, but covers ‘learning effectively’ which applies to both exam preparation as well as learning in general in lessons time.

This resource includes many ideas you could include your own letter as well as providing you a useful structure for organising your own application or supporting statement. This is intended to be a starting structure only and should be developed using your own ideas.
This resource is Set 2 of potential Head of Year or Head of House interview questions. This includes another 17 key questions you are likely to be asked on a Head of Year or pastoral Middle Leader interview.
The list is, of course, not definitive, but the questions are based on experiences in 3 successful interviews for Head of Year posts.

In this bundle you will find different resources to help you monitor and improve attendance.
This is a comprehensive attendance bundle which contains many of the resources any Head of Year would need to track and improve attendance.
A tracking and intervention spreadsheet - this conditionally formatted spreadsheet allows you to track your year group attendance weekly and allows you to track your interventions also.
Attendance interview template - this is a template for used in a school attendance panel or similar meeting and is helpful to identify any concerns as well as formalise the process of monitoring attendance
6 week monitoring card - this is a card which can be printed and handed to students, or stuck into homework diaries etc, this is designed to be completed weekly with attendance and can be used to monitor the 6 week improvement period of students below thresholds of your choice (90/95 etc).
Attendance improvement plan - this an example improvement plan for heads of year to use when trying to target attendance. It provides strategies and priorities for focus - much like a year group improvement plan, but just so attendance.
